SMOKY BABE Hot Blues (Rare 1962 UK 12-track vinyl LP,laminated picture sleeve. Hailing from the same area of deltacountry as Son House, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, JohnLee Hooker it’s safe to say Robert Brown [Smoky Babe] was’steeped in the blues’. This hard-to-find album, recorded byfolklorist Harry Oster, captured for posterity the rural bluesguitarist in full swing, aided by some fine accompanimentfrom Sally Dotson [vocals] and Henry Thomas [harmonica].Whilst the sleeve shows signs of edgwear and some lightdiscolouration to the flipbacks and it remains fully intact withall text clearly legible, the vinyl is superb, with just a coupleof light scuffs/blemishes that do not affect play, and at 60+years of age that’s no mean feat! Overall this is a wonderfulcopy of this rare slice of blues wax – and only the secondwe’ve ever had)
